FIRST DC, THEN OFF TO GHANA

The time has finally come for us to embark on our Peace Corps adventure! We have had an amazing last two weeks spending time with friends and family. Saying goodbye has been hard, but we are excited about saying hello to all the new people we will meet.

We are leaving Oklahoma City at 6:00am Monday June 6, 2011 and arrive in Washington D.C. around noon. We will meet up with the other 71 Peace Corps Volunteer’s headed to Ghana at a Holiday Inn in Arlington, VA. There we will have orientation until the evening.

Tuesday will be another long day. It will start out with more orientation. We will also be given many of the vaccinations we will need. Our plane leaves for Accra, Ghana at 10:45 pm and will take about 11 hours. So by Wednesday afternoon we will be officially in Ghana.

For the first 5 days we will stay at a woman’s college in Accra. There we will start our language training. From there we will travel to Kukurantumi in eastern Ghana. We will be living with a host family for twelve weeks furthering our technical and language training.

We will try to keep in touch through this blog as much as possible, depending on our internet/electricity availability. Our address during this time will be:

Scott and Jennifer Robertson
Peace Corps/Ghana
P.O. Box 5796
Accra-North, Ghana
West Africa

As soon as we know our permanent address we will post it. We will miss you all and hope that you will follow us on our great journey!

Love,
Scott and Jennifer

Oklahoma is nice and hot lately--what is the weather like in Ghana?
